Student Visa (Subclass 500)
Eligibility Criteria:
If you’re aspiring for the Student Visa Subclass 500, you will have to follow a certain set of conditions.
- Before you apply for this visa, you must have been accepted to study full-time at a legitimate educational institution in Australia.
- You must be at least six years of age. If you’re below 18 years of age, you should have organized appropriate welfare arrangements for the duration of your intended stay in Australia.
- You must have a valid health insurance for the period you’re going to be in Australia.
GTE Requirement:
The GTE requirement is one of the primary prerequisites applicable to all student visa applicants. The officer assessing your visa details will consider your individual circumstances to determine your hidden intention or possibility of temporary stay in Australia. You have to convince the officer that you have genuine intention to stay in Australia temporarily.
English Language Requirement
You should provide an evidence of the English language studies when applying for your visa. If you require evidence of your English language test score for your visa application, there’s a minimum language test score that is approved by the immigration department.
The minimum scores for the following English Language Tests would generally be as follows:
- IELTS: 5.5 Average
- TOEFL (Paper): 527
- TOEFL iBT: 46
- CAE (Cambridge): 162
- PTE (Pearson): 42
- OET (Occupational English Test): B Pass
Financial requirement
As an international student, you need to have proof that you have ample funds to undertake professional studies in Australia. This could be either of the followings;
- Evidence of funds to cover your studies for the first 12 months of your stay in Australia
- Evidence of taxable income of your parents or spouse in the last 12 months
Length of Stay:
You can get a valid visa that allows you to stay in Australia for up to five years.
Student Dependent Visa (Subclass 500)
The list of dependents includes:
- Your partner
- You and your partner’s dependent children – Your dependent child can be your own child or stepchild. Your child should not be:
– Married or engaged to be married or in a de facto relationship
– 18 years of age or above
- A de facto partner – However, a de facto relationship applies if you have been living with a person for at least 12 months, and you have a genuine and special relationship with them.
Eligibility Criteria
There is a set of guidelines that you must follow in order to obtain this visa.
- Your Spouse/sponsor should be holding a valid Australia student visa subclass 500.
- It permits a student to study in a registered, full-time course.
- The Eligibility norms are that the applicant must be six years old and must have been accepted for pursuing studies at an educational institution in Australia.
- Moreover, having health insurance is also mandatory.
- Length of stay is five years.
- It permits to study in the course and Work part-time.
Applying for dependent Family Member:
You can apply for eligible family members to come to Australia as dependents in one of two ways:
- By including them in your student visa application
- By applying for them to join you after you have started your course in Australia
